This girl lives with ADHD!

Did you know exercise has the ability to help manage symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)?

ADHD is a mental health condition (although also considered a SUPER POWER to us here at Wild Mountain Clinical Counselling), resulting from low levels of norepinephrine and dopamine that can cause a range of symptoms, including but not limited to struggles with attention and focus, impulsivity, and managing emotion and energy levels.

When a person exercises, their brains release neurotransmitters, including norepinephrine and dopamine. Thus, for persons living with ADHD, exercise has been shown to:

  • Reduce Impulsivity
  • Reduced hyperactivity
  • Improved attention control
  • Enhanced executive functioning and emotion regulation (mental skills that support successful planning, focusing attention, remembering instructions, and juggling multiple tasks successfully) Wild Mountain Clinical Counselling can help you learn the skills to manage your symptoms of ADHD.
